After a flurry of positive reviews for Return to Monkey Island left developer Lucasfilm Games stunned at the reaction to the revival of one of the best adventure game series, one of its lead developers has hinted at a return to Maniac Mansion, a 1987 setting. The classic game of the same name, as well as the 1993 sequel to Day of the Tentacle.
Tweeting about the overwhelmingly positive feedback Lucasfilm Games has received since the release of its latest game, executive producer Craig Derrick doesn’t hint too subtly at the favorite games Eurogamer has seen.
“I’m sure more will be said in the coming weeks and months.” Derrick says, “In the meantime, I’ll wait until it’s time to return to the MANSION!” Ces quatre derniers mots – en majuscules pour souligner, comme s’ils étaient nécessaires – ont été prononcés por l’un des personanages principalaux de Maniac Mansion, Bernard Bernoulli, dans la video d’introduction “Day of the Tentacle” (avec Bernard jouant the lead role).
Day of the Tentacle was re-released in a revamped form in 2016 by current Double Fine studio co-head Tim Schafer, but fans haven’t had a chance to return to the iconic Edison family home run run by mad scientist Dr. Fred Edison since. then. Game Conclusion While it’s unclear if Derrick is planning a remaster or a sequel, we definitely think it’s time for a new story set in the Maniac Mansion universe.
