Strange antiquities are a free continuation of the logical name of strange gardening since 2022. In the first game, you were the owner of Plant Shop, now you become students in a store with strange occult objects. Thus, the creators from Bad Viking delivered a play that follows in the footsteps of their successful predecessor. Strange antiquities, however, offer several innovations and changes. Of course, they may not be pleasant for everyone who knows the first game, but on the other hand, it can reach a new group of players.

If you played the previous episode, the concept of the game is certainly very well known. In this regard, this has not changed much. You simply exchanged plants for all types of occultist objects. You, as a student, trust the owner to take care of trade in his absence. Clients who visit you will tell you about your problems and demand that you solve their problems with their problems. At first, everything looks clear and simple, because customers know exactly what they want. Thus, you just need to study a special book, and you will find this thing based on the description.

Does it seem too simple? Don’t worry. This will change pretty soon. Later, customers may not know what they want from you. They can only ask you what you think will help them. Or they want something specific, but they no longer know the right name. And sometimes you even have to choose between two suitable objects. The client to describe the problem, and you must choose its best solution. In addition, your solution will affect the history of the game and the fate of the characters that you will learn during or at the end of the game.

However, against all this, you also solve a mysterious and slightly terrible story. In fact, after your employer leaves you in the store itself, very strange things will begin to happen in Handmeere. The flocks of raven behave very alarming and scare all the inhabitants, some of them are lost, while others were discovered with completely black eyes. Therefore, although I was really interested in the history of the first, so I soon subconsciously subconsciously slipped out of the solution of puzzles somewhere in the background and managed to get my curiosity again at the very end of the game.

Detective work

Most of your attention is completely absorbed in the identification of occult objects. This advanced a step forward compared to strange gardening. You can see each object in more detail. The game will also tell you what material the object is made of, what is the touch, regardless of whether it is a smell, whether it is a sound or warm, and also if it makes you feel. What is even worse, you will receive several books in which you will find other tracks in the form of various signs or rare stones. Compared to the previous game, this system is really larger. However, this cannot be an advantage for everyone.

As a result, strange antiquities are more demanding and time -consuming. Before touching everything that, in your opinion, can be an wanted object, it can take enough time. In addition, you must do everything after another. You cannot open a book for a view and find a symbol that you see in front of you. For example, I had to open and close the book of characters several times, because I often forgot how the symbol actually looked exactly on this topic. Or it would be convenient for the two books to be opened at the same time. This pressing system is here, and in places it was quite tiring.

Some puzzles are immediately clear, some of them will do a lot of work. If you are stuck, you can use help without which I would not do at all. But this help is not always clear, so it is not easy with her. From time to time, the characters will also deliver various letters or notes that are used to obtain other occult elements. This is another problem, because you can not always solve them immediately after their acquisition. Sometimes you have to wait for the right moment, but you do not know when the moment comes. Then you can try to work in the way to identify the object and, finally, find out that you do not have it at all. Therefore, when solving all puzzles, you should always be careful with the smallest details. Therefore, I would say that the complexity of this game is really higher than in the previous episode.

An interesting addition is the opportunity to solve a few puzzles in your store, opening hidden places. These puzzles are very creative and funny. Another way to find even more items and solve even more puzzles is an overview of the environment. This is similar to the first game, solved by searching for a stop, and then clicking on the right place on the map. This time, however, a total of 3 cards (Undermere, Catacombs and Castle). Again, sometimes it is not entirely clear which card you are actually looking for.

Mini

Of course, identify elements or find a place on the map, of course, you will not miss a few errors. If you choose poorly, you gradually fill out an indicator of fear. Filling it will begin a mini -torture with a bone. Collecting the desired characters or throwing all the same symbols in the bone, you must get rid of fear. But Minihra does not really punish. The experiments here are unlimited and basically cannot be lost. In the worst case, Minihra will only be again from the very beginning. After its implementation, you can continue where you finished. Personally, this ministra appeared mainly as a restriction, so there was no way to click on random objects until we simply chose the right one.

However, as a great drawback, I perceive the lack of Czech localization. In strange gardening, you can include Czech subtitles (but I’m not sure if it was possible from the very beginning of the game), and I would very well greet this option here. Since the game is full of words that I do not use in a general language, in some cases this dictionary was a necessity. There were no changes in stylization, but the game still retains its charm and atmosphere. At the same time, however, she could influence me more lively and better.

For even greater comfort, you can play the game even on the deck, and not just sit on the computer. The game will do without problems, and you can even set the speed of the cursor. In the end, you can click in the game, so for me in this case the mouse control is more pleasant and better out of more accuracy. I must also emphasize the ability to install automatic labels of the elements that you identify. This blessing is mainly for those who will not play a game on a computer. This can be a simple, but absolutely excellent soundtrack on the piano emphasizes the combination of an ominous and pleasant atmosphere.
