Several job postings for Dead By Daylight developer Behavior Interactive indicate that the team is working on an entirely new multiplayer game, in addition to the ongoing asymmetrical horror game and user-generated content called Meet Your Maker.
While Behavior is currently hiring for a variety of roles, some cite an “unannounced project” and the studio’s “upcoming IP.” The online systems programmer job posting states that the game will have “inventory, achievements, and leaderboards” and must be active at all times.
The key here is the mention of online features, indicating that this new game is likely to be an entirely new multiplayer IP. Behavior Interactive is known for its online multiplayer games like Dead By Daylight, so it makes sense that the studio could aim for more success with another multiplayer title.
Another unannounced gaming job listing is a console systems programmer, and while it’s focused on bringing “PC gaming to new console platforms,” it could be the same game as above. If it’s the same game, the job description mentions even more multiplayer-focused details, as the candidate will need “experience in cross-platform multiplayer game development.”
Behavior is also seeking a systems designer for an “unannounced project” who will “communicate with the game economy, plan player progression, and ensure consistency of individual progression data through real-time updates.” This indicates ongoing support and constant updates, as well as an ever-changing game economy that clearly resembles a multiplayer game.
This next Dead by Daylight project may still be a mystery, but these job listings at least confirm that the studio is creating a new multiplayer IP on top of all the other ongoing projects.
