The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 release date is potentially just a few months away, but those expecting many of the company’s best graphics cards to be available at launch may be sorely disappointed. In fact, it looks like Team Green is only planning to release one of their new Lovelace GPUs this year.
equipment leak graymon55 doubled down on its earlier statement that only one Nvidia GeForce RTX 4000 graphics card would be released in 2022, namely “AD102 and only one model.” As for the specific model, it’s most likely the RTX 4090 and not the monstrously powerful green GPU that can supposedly run Control at absurdly high frame rates.
Those looking to get their hands on the mid-range RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 can wait until next year, as the RTX 4060 is likely to be even more advanced than its more powerful counterparts. The reasons for this release schedule are likely due to the sheer number of RTX 3000 graphics cards piling up and flooding the used market. Also, Nvidia wants to phase out the RTX 4000 GPU chips but can’t, so a delay could help protect the profitability of its next-gen pixel makers. However, there is no way to know with absolute certainty.
For now, buying an RTX 3000 series at a discount might be the best route for anyone looking to upgrade their gaming PC… as long as they actually order the RTX 3090 Ti and not the arena. Not to mention the upcoming AMD RDNA 3 and Intel Arc Alchemist graphics cards, which could offer higher value than their green rivals.
