WoW Dragonflight Alpha Adds Infamous Hearthstone Villain

It looks like one of Hearthstone’s most notorious villains is making his way into World of Warcraft thanks to an appearance in the Dragonflight WoW alpha. While Hearthstone is based on the world, characters, and lore of MMORPGs, it has featured its own heroes and villains through numerous expansions. Now one of the card game’s most popular antagonists, Rafaam seems to have taken the liberty of branching out into an MMO.

Rafaam raised his ghostly head in WoW Dragonflight Alpha 44649, according to Wowhead. Archaeologist Aether first appeared in the 2015 Hearthstone Adventure League of Explorers, where it is revealed that he is the force behind the “Staff of Creation” artifact sought after by the titular Explorers.

After the staff is rebuilt during the quest, a curse placed on him by Archivist Rafaam allows him to infiltrate the Hall of Explorers and attack the League, using the staff’s power to his advantage on the quest’s key boss. Struggle.

Following his defeat, Rafaam disappeared for several years. However, he would return in 2019’s Rise of Shadows expansion, where he was renamed Arch-Villain Rafaam and assembled the League of EVIL, who then served as the antagonist for that entire year, during World Saviors. Uldum and Descent of Dragons expansions.

The actions of the League of Evil, which included taking over the entire city of Dalaran and gaining the power known as the Scourge of the Undead, ended up serving as the master plan for resurrecting the mighty dragon Galakrond, who appears in World of Warcraft. . as “the ancestor of dragons”.

Galakrond has already been actively discussed as a potential main antagonist for upcoming WoW Dragonflight additions. As detailed in the Warcraft Dawn of the Aspects book series, a giant proto-drake was killed by the five dragons known as the Aspects after he began devouring his fellow dragons and then brought them back to life as undead slaves.

So it makes sense that a returning Galakrond would be a prime candidate for an expansion focused on returning to the mythical Dragon Isles. Rafaam’s sudden appearance further confirms this theory. However, the League of Explorers itself has already appeared in WoW as an easter egg on the island of Mechagon, so it’s also possible that Raphaam’s appearance was just an arrogant head sign rather than anything significant.

Meanwhile, fans are digging into the latest alpha build to unlock more WoW Dragonflight class abilities. In other World of Warcraft news, the release date for Wrath of the Lich King Classic has apparently been accidentally leaked on Blizzard’s website.
