Warframe is getting a new single-player expansion that will be released before the Duviri Paradox open-world expansion, developer Digital Extremes has revealed. The Warframe Veilbreaker expansion will see the return of the New War Grineer Kal-175, and Warframe Creative Director Rebecca Ford will explain how DE wanted to delve into Kahl’s story.
“We knew that Kal needed an open ending because players really wanted to see more,” says Ford. “And then when we had all the feedback about Calais, we were like, ‘Hell yeah! Let’s see Kal’s story!
The Veilbreaker trailer shows Kal using his jetpack to get away from the Thumper Tusk, an enemy players may have encountered on the Plains of Eidolon. Kal shows prowess with his signature Grakat, as well as incendiary grenades that players can use while piloting him in the New War.
The Veilbreaker trailer not only showcases the continuation of Kal’s journey, but also adds cleverly designed New War Archon bosses that you can take on in four-player boss missions.
“The Archons are back as a true upgrade to the next level of launches,” continues Ford. “You can really dive in and get your hands dirty with what we consider to be our most final content. Once a week, an Archon will present that week’s armor. You can defeat them and steal the Archon Crystal from him. [we] I won’t tell you what it does, but we have a new upgrade system.”
There is currently no word on the exact release date for Veilbreaker, but it is likely that this small expansion will be released before the much larger open world Duviri Paradox update.
