When we purchase a digital version, we agree that the game does not belong to us. But what Ubisoft is up to now is devoid of common sense and will upset many players. The company is removing some of its older games from Steam.. They won’t go buy them. But at least one title will be unplayable even for those who own it after the summer holidays.
The worst looks so far since Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD. Action-adventure stopped being sold on Steam today and from 01/09/2022. will be unavailable and unplayable. Ubisoft hasn’t given a reason why it will be removing the game from player libraries, Steam says it’s being done at the publisher’s request, but the date coincides with plans to shut down online services for some older games. But that’s not the case with Liberation HD, it’s a single player action adventure. Interestingly, this nasty change hasn’t been applied yet. Assassin’s Creed 3 Remasteredof which Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD is a part.
Other titles affected: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands as well as Splinter Cell Blacklist. For them, Steam warns that the Deluxe Edition and DLC will not be available after 01/09/2022, but you should not lose access to the original games. So you “only” lose access to additional content.
The games have since been removed from the Steam menu. Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic as well as space junkies. The latter is purely multi-user, so its complete removal at least makes sense.

We do not currently know if the Ubisoft Connect versions of these games will be the same.
Shutting down servers also enables 2070, which didn’t sit well with Ubisoft Mainz, who told fans they were looking for a way to save the game after 09/01/2022. So Ubisoft’s plan does not meet with understanding even among employees.
A spokesman for Ubisoft told UK Eurogamer: “We do not take the decision to retire legacy gaming services lightly, and our teams are currently evaluating all available options for affected players.” They should also work with partners to update this information across all stores so that players are aware of it and don’t buy the game unnecessarily.
Assassin’s Creed 3 Liberation was originally released in 2012 as a PlayStation Vita exclusive. The remake appeared two years later for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It is a spin-off of the third installment and tells the story of the assassin Aveline de Grandpre, the series’ first female protagonist, and her fight against the Templars.
