A new Murloc mount has been spotted in World of Warcraft and can be obtained by defeating a boss in the new Dragonflight expansion.
Speaking of World of Warcraft, for some reason it always reminds of murlocs. Possibly the most revered and hated creatures in the MMO world, murlocs are a kind of mascot of WoW. There are many murloc themed items in the game: Murky, Grommlock, Gurgle, Grunt, Larky, Murgle, Murkalot, Murkidan. I could go on and on, but I have acid reflux.
The new Dragonflight expansion will feature our latest murloc pet, Murkastrasza, but according to respected data-miner Martin Benjamins, it may not have been the only murloc pre-order bonus at some point.
found benjamins There’s another model in the texture shop for Murkastrasza, a muscular murloc-like creature with a palanquin the perfect size for a heroic adventurer’s butt. Clearly this mount was removed from the pre-order version if it was really intended for him. As Benjamins suggests, it’s possible that he and Murkastrasza were a BlizzConOnline bounty, but were split up and reassigned after that event was cancelled.
Interestingly, the magazine texture for Murkastraza also shows a different model, if it’s a mount. It appears that the model is not encrypted with the same key, which suggests that it has been moved/separated or simply no longer exists.

Blizzard likes to use every part of the buffalo, so to speak, so it’s likely that we’ll soon see this Murloc Hulk show up somewhere else, but where? He could be joining Wen Lo and Sapphire Skyblazer as a reward for the last six months of membership, or he could be a rare drop from a new Dragonflight boss or faction reward.
The mount that can be earned in-game will no doubt appeal to many experienced players who remember the days when mounts could only be purchased with in-game currency and when a full collection didn’t cost hundreds of books.
