The first review of the Intel Arc A380 GPU has surfaced, and the card appears to be struggling to keep up with its entry-level rival from Nvidia. With 8 Xe cores, 6GB of GDDR6 memory, and boosted clock speeds up to 2.45GHz, the A380 is designed to compete with the GeForce RTX 3050 and Radeon RX 6500XT, but its PC gaming performance doesn’t say much more. .
Discovered by Videocardz, the first intelligence ark A380 GPU review provided by user Bilibili Shenmedounengce. In the video, the tech maker shares the test results of the 3DMark Time Spy and Port Royal cards, painting a performance picture for an entry-level pixel pusher. In both test games, the A380 trails the RTX 3050, but the newcomer outperforms the AMD Radeon RX 6400 and 6500XT.
Unfortunately, in non-synthetic tests, Intel’s new video card performed worse. GPU performance is lower than the GTX 1650 in games such as GTA V, Tomb Raider, and Forza Horizon 5 at 1080p, which may be due to driver optimization issues.
Shenmedounengce’s review is specifically for the Gunnir Arc A380 Photon 6G OC, so we may see different results from the other options as soon as they come out. However, it’s unclear when the lineup will launch outside of China, as gaming laptops with Arc Alchemist graphics are still labeled “coming soon.”
Previous leaks suggest that the introduction of Intel Arc graphics cards has been delayed until late summer, meaning it could be a while before the team’s high-end desktop blue solution doesn’t arrive. Of course, when it does, it’s likely to face fierce next-gen opponents like the RTX 4060, as Nvidia’s RTX 4000 and AMD’s RDNA 3 GPUs are set to debut in a few months.
