Nintendo Warns Gamers: Don't Play Switch During Heat Waves

The intense heat, which affects France like many other countries in the world, also affects the electronic devices we use on a daily basis.

At temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius in some locations, Nintendo recommends not overheating the Switch. “If you use the Nintendo Switch in a hot place, the temperature of the main unit may increase.“We can read in a tweet sent on July 11, when Japan suffered its worst heat wave since 1875.

Instead, the company recommends using the console in places where the temperature is between 5 and 35 degrees. A warning posted on the brand’s Japanese site states that the Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED are vulnerable to overheating, and that “Low temperature will burn if your skin comes in direct contact with the hot part during prolonged use.

The heatwave has already caused train delays, fires and the sweltering closure of London Airport, which is experiencing sweltering temperatures.
