According to producer Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy 16 is “in the final stages of development”.

Final Fantasy 16 has a lot to look forward to – a series that has certainly had its ups and downs in recent years. As early as July 2021, Yoshida announced that while major work on game development and scripts had been completed, work on boss fights and development tools remained to be done.

However, in December 2021, the development, like many other games over the past few years, ran into issues with COVID-19. However, development was delayed for six months.

In a recent interview taken from Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary Uniqlo magazine and translated on Twitter by fan @aitaikimochi, Yoshida said that they are “in the final stages of development” and that the game has a “very thoughtful story”.

As shown in Final Fantasy 16 so far, the game has a fundamentally different style to the franchise’s single game records. It is similar to the MMO Final Fantasy 14 directed and produced by Yoshida.

Final Fantasy 16 turns into the fantasy world of Valisthea, which adopts a somewhat European-inspired aesthetic. The world is divided into six groups: the Grand Duchy of Rosaria, the Holy Empire of Sanbrek, the Kingdom of Valoe, the Republic of Dalmatia, the Kingdom of Iron and the Dominion of Crystal. The story seems to be dedicated to the characters of Clive Rossfield, his younger brother Joshua and their friend Jill Warrick.

As the game draws to a close, fans can expect more information and insights in the near future.
