TEKKEN 8 Beta: the next battle will be announced as part of the closed test in October

Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc just announced another closed beta test TEKKEN™ 8giving players the opportunity to test out the new sequel to the franchise and share their feedback to make this the best game in the series.

The trial will begin on October 20 and will be available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam®. Registration must be made through the official website from today until October 11, 16:00 Brasilia time.

Developed on Unreal Engine 5 by Bandai Namco. TEKKEN 8 promises to be responsible for the biggest achievement in the fighting game franchise. The franchise introduces a new “aggressive” combat system that keeps the level of combat at an all-time high and rewards players who keep attacking. TEKKEN 8 is scheduled to release on January 26, 2024 exclusively for PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Thanks to closed beta testing TEKKEN 8, players will be able to compete online using different platforms (cross-play). They will also have access to the TEKKEN™ Fight Lounge, an immersive lobby where players can interact with each other and gain access to new features and game modes.

In the Living Room, players can create their own avatars, interact with other players via chat and emotes, customize matchmaking, and use customization tools and various game modes in four separate areas: Battle Zone, Customization Store, TEKKEN DOJO, and “Beach area”

Additionally, the lounge will also feature the return of Tekken Ball, a mini-game first introduced in TEKKEN 3 where battles take place on a beach volleyball court. More TEKKEN Fight Lounge features will be announced soon!

The test will feature 19 characters, including many favorites from previous games, as well as new fighters. Jin, Kazuya, Jun, Paul, Law, King, Lars, Jack-8, Xiaoyu, Nina, Leroy, Lily, Asuka, Hwoarang, Brian and Claudio will return for this beta, while Azucena, Raven and the newly announced Feng join the list of game characters.

The variety of environments highlights the game’s rich detail and dynamic settings, some of which players may recognize from the numerous gameplay and character trailers released so far. These include Town Square (daytime), Yakushima, Rebel Hangar, Sanctuary, Arena, and Ortiz Farm, a new stage added after the previous beta.

An Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation®Plus subscription is not required to participate in the closed beta. In addition, players who participated in the June 2023 test and downloaded the version will be able to participate in the upcoming closed beta test after the game is updated.

More details on beta dates and additional information are below:

  • October 12 at 4 a.m. Brasilia time—registration closes.
  • October 19th, 4am PT – Selected players will be notified and will receive redemption codes.
  • October 20th at 5am ET – Closed Beta begins.
  • October 21, from 5:00 to 8:00 Brasilia time – Closed beta testing ends for server maintenance.
  • October 24 at 4 am Brasilia time – end of closed beta testing.
