The Warhammer 40k Darktide sale dropped the grimdark co-op shooter to its lowest price ever on Steam shortly after the release of the game’s latest content, Tools of War. If you’re looking for a high-octane cooperative game to keep you and your friends busy, this 40,000-spin formula previously defined and perfected by Warhammer: Vermintide 2 from developer Fatshark might be just what you’re looking for.
Darktide takes the crushing four-player formula of Vermintide, which in turn followed giants like Valve’s Left 4 Dead, and places it in the 41st millennium setting of the futuristic side of the Warhammer franchise. You can choose from four different Darktide classes: Veteran, Ranged Sniper; Zealot, a truck armed with chainswords and flamethrowers; a psychic who is essentially a wizard from the future; and the clumsy Ogryn, a mighty warrior.
While Darktide’s release was less about hordes of Chaos monsters and more about a host of technical issues, Fatshark has continued to develop and improve the game since its release last November, releasing the Darktide patch notes if they’re voluminous than They don’t fit in one. . job. Content dropouts are also common: the latest entry, Tools of War, arrives on March 23.
It’s fair to say that Darktide’s long-term depth isn’t yet on par with Vermintide 2, and some game mechanics are still waiting for additional implementations to be completed. There’s a lot more to do right now, though, especially if you’ve got a handful of like-minded friends stomping on dirty (but beautiful) maps and tearing through the hordes of Chaos. It’s even easier to sell when it’s, well, on sale.
Warhammer 40k Darktide is on sale on Steam at a 20% discount until April 25. That means it’s currently on sale for $31.99 / £26.39. Additionally, the Imperial Edition Pack, which includes unique outfits for each class, eight weapon skins, the Caducades backpack, and 2,500 Aquilas (the game’s premium currency), is on sale at 27% off for $46.85 / 39 .02 lbs.
Alternatively, if you have an active Microsoft PC Game Pass subscription, you can play the game through the Xbox app as part of that. Unfortunately, there is currently no cross-platform play support between the two versions of Darktide. So while Fatshark said this could happen in the future, you need to make sure you and your friends are on the same platform.
