If there’s anything you need in Dead by Daylight, it’s a good first aid kit and teammates who are ready to use them. In response to player feedback, developer DBD Behavior Interactive has confirmed that the asymmetrical horror game is getting big changes to its healing mechanic in the next patch, and they’re badly needed.
Halfway through the “Tools of Terror” chapter, many healing changes were made to PTB, some of which were reverted. First is the healing speed itself. The base time was increased from 16 to 24 seconds, but Behavior decided to go back to the latter. as “After reviewing player feedback, we found that many of you agreed that the speed [at] that you are dealing with others was already in good condition before the update.
Instead, the developers turned to first aid kits, which many DBD players felt needed some tweaking. This behavior nerfed health packs significantly as survivors could “heal themselves multiple times at their convenience, leaving teammates free to work on generators while they did so.” If you’re one of the many main characters in Dead by Daylight, it’s boring as hell.
All medkits now have 24 charges, along with a 33% speed and efficiency penalty when used for self-healing.. However, the speed at which you heal others with a First Aid Kit has been increased:
- camp set: Increases the healing speed of others by 35%.
- first aid wrencht: Increases the healing speed of others by 40%.
- emergency first aid kit: Increases the healing speed of others by 45%.
- Ranger First Aid Kit: Increases the healing speed of others by 50%.
All of these values are base values, so plugins are not included. There are some changes to items like rubber gloves and gel bandages, most of which are buffs.
Frankly, Dead By Daylight’s healing systems have been a bit tricky of late. Players have been complaining and threatening to quit the game ever since the PTB was announced, and luckily Behavior has taken note of those comments.
As a result, the game is also incredibly single player focused, so I’m really excited to see the Behavior feature reward players for really being play in team. Multiplayer games often fall victim to “one person wanting to look cool” so I’m glad to see a push towards teamwork; this is important in DBD.
