Genshin Impact 3.6 Adds Even More Desert Locations, Says Leak

A new Genshin Impact leak has revealed that HoYoverse plans to expand the Sumeru desert once more. Until now, the desert of anime games has mostly been a source of tragedy if you’ve completed the longer world quests, so we hope this new area will spice things up a bit and provide fresh ideas and interesting gameplay. Long runs across the sand to get from one place to another are not as magical as they used to be.

The Sumeru desert is vast and there is a lot of interesting history associated with the place, which becomes apparent during lengthy missions like The Golden Dream and The Bilquis Scaffold. But the third desert expansion without Sumeru’s jungle growth feels a bit strange, at least to me.

If the leaks are as reliable as they seem, the new desert area also adds something of an oasis of sorts, so the setting should change a bit visually. The most fascinating parts of the existing desert are underground, so it would be nice to do some interesting exploration of the desert in the sun for a change.

The expansion will start from the northwestern part of the Hadramavet Desert, and it looks like there will be two new Statues of the Seven to interact with: one in an area called Lone Rock Desert, and the other in Waftgaol.

Never-before-seen map images obtained from the named leader memerollsXD on Twitter and they made me feel optimistic after the previous desert expansion.

However, we won’t see any new locations for a few weeks as Genshin Impact 3.5 has just started. While you wait, you can shoot Dehya and Cino, two of the community favorites born in the desert.
