A recent Genshin Impact leak suggests that HoYoverse will be adding another weekly boss to its anime game: a giant snake named Apep. In the world of Teyvat, Apop is known as a friend of King Deshret and a relative of the Venut snakes that live throughout the Sumeru desert. The lore is certainly interesting, but if Apep is anything like the existing snake bosses, we should expect an unnecessarily long fight.
All of the current serpentine bosses, Golden Wolf, Ruin Serpent, and the recently added Setekh Venut, can become invulnerable to extend their fights.
They can fly through the air at an awkward height or bury themselves underground to avoid damage entirely. In the case of the Golden Lord, the shield must be broken through a time-consuming minigame.
With such a history of clunky mechanics, the snake boss will likely be even more difficult to handle. Apep will be the first of the bunch who isn’t a regular world boss, but instead will be available to fight in the weekly realm.
It’s rumored that Kava and Baizhu will need Apep’s boss gear to level up, so if you choose one of Dendro’s new characters, you’ll be fighting this giant green snake.
The information leak comes from a known Genshin leader, Merlin’s Impact, who posted a photo of the boss on Twitter. Looks like Apep will be coming with the new desert map expansion where you will probably find the domain.
However, Genshin Impact version 3.5 has just started, so we won’t be seeing Apep, Baizhu, or Kaveh for a few weeks. For now, you can use Dehyu and Cino in the banners in the first half of 3.5, or wait for Ayaka and Shenhe in the second half.
