When you think of a life sim, probably everyone thinks of Electronic Arts’ The Sims series, which already has four parts and is on its way to a fifth. It’s fairly dominant in its field, but at the Paradox event, a pretty serious contender was announced in the form of Life by You. Judging by the first teaser, the game will be very similar. But the studio that is working on the game is especially interesting.
This is Paradox Tectonic, a brand new team, but led by a very experienced Rod Humble. He was the head of the entire The Sims label at EA and was involved in the second and third parts. He subsequently went to Linden Lab, the company behind Second Life’s virtual world, and ran it for several years. After his departure and several years of work in another company, he founded the studio Paradox Tectonic, which is now working on The Sims competition.
