According to a preview of new mechanics set to launch with the Destiny 2 Strand subclass in the popular FPS game, Destiny 2 Strand Traps could replace Warmind Cages. Players recently learned that Warmind Cells, which are usually dropped by IKELOS and Seventh Seraph weapons, will be leaving the game permanently on Destiny 2 Lightfall’s launch day. While it’s initially unclear why Bungie made the call, the recently released Destiny 2 Lightfall weapons and gear trailer may provide some insight into the developer’s decision to remove these locations as part of Destiny 2 gameplay.
Heating cells give players a unique way to deal burst or splash damage. Once they drop, players with certain mods can shoot them to damage nearby targets. These slots have become less useful in recent seasons, partly because the weapons that the Warmind slots drop have become more difficult to obtain, and also because Bungie seems to have neglected them in favor of Light Infused and Elemental Wells mods.
However, the recently released Lightfall weapons and gear trailer features the catalyst for the Quicksilver Storm exotic grenade launcher that results in something called Strand Tangles, which are glowing green orbs that float in the air (as opposed to Warmind cells that fall to the ground). land). ). Players also noted that in the trailer, characters breaking these traps by throwing or shooting them cause them to explode, damaging enemies just like Warmind Cells currently do. It seems likely that the skins and shards of various Strand subclasses cause Strand Balls to produce different effects when fired, though these “Strandballs” can also be tied to weapon perks or armor stats. Elemental Wells will also be leaving the game with Lightfall, and as global changes take place in the overall building systems of the game, it’s also possible that players will see similar Elemental Well mechanics through mechanics like Stasis Shards or weapon perks.
