Barnsley moves into esports

Barnsley FCEnglish football club that currently plays for First Leaguethe third tier of the English league has announced a new esports-focused partnership with i Barnsley Griffins and Barnsley College. The partnership has already been activated for the first time: last week the FIFA 23 tournament took place.

Speaking about the initiative, Reds CEO Khaled El-Ahmad said: “We are proud to partner with Barnsley College on this exciting initiative. We hope that this is only the first step on our joint journey.”

Enzo Guarini, Head of Esports Course at Barnsley College, said: “We look forward to hosting the Barnsley Griffins and Barnsley FC FIFA tournament. This will give our students and community the opportunity to work together and create a real sense of community.

In addition, this collaboration and partnership highlights the great esports offerings and opportunities we have in our region. Both sides are excited about the prospect of this partnership and look forward to collaborating on future projects that not only promote sport but also promote health and wellness.”
