Artificial intelligence is becoming a part of our daily lives and Lenevo intends to use AI gaming laptop chips in its future line of gaming laptop PCs. This technology will focus on tuning performance through machine learning, closely monitoring benchmarks in real time to manage GPU and CPU efficiency.

There’s a lot going on inside today’s best gaming laptop, because managing efficiency and performance is a technical balance. Harnessing the power of the next-generation Nvidia RTX 4090 mobile GPU will give your laptop an edge in the latest games, every scenario is unique in terms of requirements, and there’s not a lot of power while gaming.

Unveiled at CES, a new gaming laptop feature aims to
“Optimize system performance” on the fly with Lenovo’s machine learning and AI Engine+. In a sense, the AI chip serves as a kind of digital asset manager, monitoring and switching between heat streams to maintain stable performance.

The new AI chip should allow upcoming next-gen gaming laptops like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i to take advantage of its 230W TGP, a skill that could help blur the lines between portable and desktop gaming. Some of the best PC games are more dependent on CPU resources than others, and if a particular scenario has minimal requirements, machine learning can technically switch power to the machine’s graphics card without risk.

This will provide “up to 15% higher TDP,” which will benefit power-hungry components in the new lineup, according to Lenovo. Speaking of which, the tech giant plans to launch a new armada of gaming laptops on the scene in 2023, powered by Nvidia RTX 4000 mobile GPUs and the latest Intel and AMD processors.

In addition to the internal components, Lenovo’s collection of powerful computers is also equipped with pressure-sensitive keyboards from Peratech. Laptops generally can’t match the best desktop gaming keyboards, but we think this analog solution is a game changer.

The Lenovo Legion line of laptops will launch starting in March 2023, with new gaming monitors and pre-built systems starting in April. We’re looking forward to testing the PC maker’s AI chip, so stay tuned for more machine learning shenanigans later this year.
