Custom keycaps for gaming keyboards come in all shapes and sizes, but HyperX has announced an adorable, snappy cat that will melt away the winter blues. This unique addition won’t improve your FPS gaming skills, and headbutting doesn’t provide a technical advantage, but who cares when you’ve got a crazy friend to tag along on your PC gaming adventures?
Most of the top contenders for gaming keyboards have removable keycaps, and replacing them with something unconventional helps add some personality. Complicated storefronts like Esty are already full of spaces and custom keys, but you’ll need to be quick if you want to integrate HyperX into your custom keys.
Unveiled at CES 2023, Cozy Cat Coco is a HyperX logo cap that will make even the grumpiest PC enthusiast smile. Created in collaboration with HP, the feline friend is made using “next-generation color printing technology” with a small blue wool cap and scarf.
HyperX says that Coco is the first of many custom keys planned for 2023, and you’ll be able to pick them up on January 26 at 9:00 am PST. Capture? Well, each release will only be available for 48 hours or while supplies last, so if you really want to buy a Keyboard Cat, you’ll need to act as soon as they’re available.
You’ll have to wait until Koko leaves to see what HyperX has planned next, but we did manage to spot some prototypes from friends at CES. Design options include baby frogs, a magical rubber duck, and a unicorn. If you prefer cute accessories with a spooky twist, there’s even a variation of Baphomet Koko lurking around the table that looks like it’s straight out of the cult of the lamb.
In addition to the keys, the stand also featured several functional pieces of art that double as a place for your microphone or headphones. We’d love to see some of these concepts come to fruition in retail as they could help transform traditional game tables into a unique diorama.
