Proton, the Linux-based software that makes the Steam Deck compatible with Windows, has just received an update with many fixes for fan-favorite games. It also adds a few new ones to Valve’s compatibility list so you can pack more of your library into one portable powerhouse.

If you have a Steam Deck, Proton 7.0-5 should be on your Steam download list. The patch does not include any changes to the better Steam Deck, so there are no changes or improvements to the gaming laptop PC desktop experience, but it does focus on gaming.

As noted in Valve’s Github patch notes, the update improves many games on the Steam Deck. For example, an issue in Batman: Arkham City GOTY that caused the game to run in the background on a Steam console has now been fixed. Also, in Spider-Man Remastered, fixed “showing an outdated driver dialog on AMD systems”.

Along with improvements to Red Dead Redemption 2, Tekken 7, and Planet Zoo, which also experienced crashing issues, the new version of Proton also adds compatibility with a few other games. Rift, Unravel 2, Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, and a few other lesser-known games should now work with the update.

Steam Deck continues to be a huge force in gaming laptops, with regular updates. Check out the Proton 7.0-5 changelog to see what other tweaks and fixes have been made to your favorite games.
