Starship Troopers FPS game is in development at Offworld Industries, developer of modern military shooter Squad and WWI game Beyond the Wire. Starship Troopers: Extermination will be released in Early Access next year and will pit you and your team of mobile infantry against the threat of alien insects, as seen in the 1997 Paul Verhoeven film.

Starship Troopers: Extermination is a cooperative game where you play as one of 12 soldiers in squads of four on a mission to destroy the alien threat on the planet Valaka. Offworld Industries says you’ll need to balance combat with gathering resources and building your base fortifications before heading out of the area in a dropship.

You will be able to choose between three playable classes: attack, support and defense. Working together, you will have to fight the bugs while building walls, towers, ammo depots and more. Each class has its own path of progression, with new weapons and perks to unlock as you complete missions.

When Early Access begins in 2023, you’ll find five types of insects on the planet’s surface: Drones, Warriors, Gunners, Plasma Grenadiers, and Elite Tigers. More powerful enemies appear as the battles intensify, and it all takes place on a large map with five distinct areas.

Offworld Industries says it will have more on Starship Troopers: Extermination soon, but until then you can check out our list of the best survival games on PC to hone your skills.
