International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed that the first editionOlympic eSports Week take place in Singapore between June 22 and 25, 2023
The IOC announcement marks an important step in supporting the development of virtual sports within the Olympic Movement and the continued involvement of players at the competitive level.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Sports of Singapore and the Singapore National Olympic Committee (SNOC), Olympic eSports Week will showcase the best of virtual sports – a hybrid of physical and simulation sports – with a four-day festival that will showcase the latest technology, host roundtables, training and exhibition matches.
The highlight of the week will be the first live (representative) finalOlympic eSports Seriesvirtual and simulated global sports competition created in collaboration with International Federations (IFs) as a result of last year’s very successful Olympic Virtual Series. The 2021 series attracted over 250,000 visitors from 100 countries. take part in virtual and simulated sports competitions, including baseball, auto racing, cycling, rowing and sailing.
Details, including information on how to participate in the first Olympic Esports Week and Olympic Esports Series, will be revealed in early 2023.
