The first decent tests of the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT have appeared with decent frame rate measurements. While the performance of its more powerful counterpart was already somewhat clear, we now have an idea of the 4K gaming performance offered by each graphics card.
These new AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT benchmarks were provided by the red team themselves (via Tom’s Hardware) and give us an idea of the GPU’s 4K rasterization and ray tracing performance.
The pixel booster hits 157 fps when running Resident Evil Village with RT features turned off, and games like Modern Warfare 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion hit 117 fps and 85 fps, respectively. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk 2077 tops out at 60 frames per second.
Enabling ray tracing naturally results in a lower frame rate. Resident Evil Village drops to a still very playable 115fps, while Cyberpunk 2077 turns into a slideshow at 18fps. Fortunately, AMD FSR can be used to get back to 57 fps, but it’s unclear what quality preset was used to achieve this.
Compared to the company’s current best graphics card, the 6950 XT, the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT offers a higher level of performance. Since these results are internal benchmarks, they should be taken with a grain of salt, but critics for the GPU will start to surface soon.
