If you’re a PC gamer of a certain age, you probably have fond memories of playing the classic Heroes of Might and Magic series of strategy games, possibly culminating in Heroes of Might and Magic 3. The Polish company plans to bring back that nostalgia from board games, and is gearing up to make officially licensed Heroes of Might and Magic 3: The Board Game in just a few weeks.
Archon has previously created tabletop games for Masters of the Universe and Wolfenstein 3D. The Heroes of Might and Magic franchise fits more naturally into the tabletop game format: the original digital version, after all, takes place in orderly moves and takes place on a map that the developers recreate with a series of tiles of six nested sides. .
The current layout allows for 1-4 players to play each session, so yes, you can set it up for the single player campaign if you want. The games are around two hours long and feature a selection of HoMM 3 factions (with expansions covering more), as well as a map that changes and changes every time you play.
You’ll upgrade your hero, recruit creatures to fight in your army, and collect artifacts and treasures as you explore the map. Heroes of Might and Magic 3: The Board Game keeps track of everything with a mix of cards, tokens, and paintable miniatures; the latter are essential to any successful board game Kickstarter campaign.
The initial objective of the campaign is 50,000 euros and the basic contribution starts at 75 euros. This will get you the base game plus all bonus goals and an exclusive Kickstarter expansion pack yet to be determined. The $119 Azure Pledge adds additional miniatures for each castle type and some additional objectives. The €169 Grail Tier pledge includes additions for the Fortress and Rampart factions, as well as the planned Battlefield expansion. Lastly, there is also a €199 collector’s deposit which includes everything mentioned above, some limited edition posters and an art book.
According to the draft Kickstarter page, the game will ship in December 2023.. You can check the official website for more information.
