Speculation on the release date of Modern Warfare 2

East Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play does it work for multiplayer? With Modern Warfare 2’s campaign and multiplayer now available, players are already looking for ways to improve and evolve the game over time, and one of the biggest requests is ranked play. Ranked play isn’t new to the Call of Duty series, but it will be to games run by Infinity Ward, as both Infinity Warfare and Modern Warfare never had a league mode.

Rating hints have been found in the Modern Warfare 2 code and may be added to the FPS game in the future, according to various Call of Duty sources. But who will develop this new mode? And how will it work? Here’s everything we know about Modern Warfare 2’s ranked game.

Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Game Details

Since Infinity Ward or any of the other Call of Duty developers have not confirmed a qualifying game for Modern Warfare 2, a release date has clearly not been announced yet. We know there’s already a lot of post-launch content planned, like Season 1 launching alongside Warzone 2.0, so ranked mode will probably go much further. Ranked play may be added with the release of Season 2, like the Vanguard League game mode did, as the only official reference to ranked play that we believe is related to Warzone 2.0. In a September Call of Duty Next stream, Infinity Ward PR director Stephanie Snowden said the team is “listening to conversations in the community, especially around small maps, anti-cheat bounces, ranked play, and plus”.

Fortnite leaker TheGhostofHope suggested back in July that ranked play was coming up. indicating that Treyarch will lead the project. That’s not a surprise considering ranked game Black Ops was developed by Treyarch, and Sledgehammer enlisted Treyarch to help with Vanguard’s League Play. What we don’t know is whether the combination of Infinity Ward and Modern Warfare will lead to another ranked mode unlike the ones we’ve seen before.

Something that suggests we could be getting an entirely new version of the ranked game is yet another leak, this time from a VanguardIntel leaker on Twitter, who has apparently seen evidence that new department names. Ranks range from Bronze to, oddly enough, Crimson (why he’s higher than Diamond, we’ll never know), ranks also include an iridescent split, presumably at the top, for a total of seven potential ranks.

While that’s all we know about Modern Warfare 2 ranked play at the moment, it’s certainly enough in the meantime to familiarize yourself with the different maps and game modes. Make sure you’re ready to use the best Modern Warfare 2 weapons and accessories, like the best M4 gear if you want to play with one of the most popular weapons.
