Steam Deck compatible games are now easier to find with the ProtonDB plugin

The number of games supported by the Steam Deck has been steadily increasing since the laptop launched earlier this year, but Valve still has a long way to go before it even covers most of its store. Fortunately, the modding community has found a way that should make it easier to find unverified entries in your Steam library and more.

The ProtonDB plugin, accessible via the popular Decky Loader software mod, is a great workaround or addition to Valve’s official Steam Deck verification system.

The ProtonDB website’s overall compatibility rating is generated through direct user input, giving you a better idea of the type of issues you may encounter with your portable power station.

Some Reddit users even claim that the ProtonDB plugin may actually be more accurate than the official system, and one thread claims it is and receives over 1,000 upvotes.

Instructions for downloading and installing Deky Loader and the ProtonDB plugin can be found here. It’s pretty easy to do, but it’s worth noting that you’ll need to enable advanced settings like “Developer Mode” for it to work.
