Picking the most effective killers in Dead by Daylight can be a real challenge, especially after Behavior Interactive changed the game’s metagame and perk system to asymmetric multiplayer. However, it has become much easier to determine which assassin has the most effective average kill rate, as Behavior has published detailed stats for Dead by Daylight assassins.
The average number of kills per assassin is calculated across all skill levels and the top 5% of players (based on the current Dead by Daylight matchmaking ranking system), with Resident Evil’s Wesker leading in both cases, with Pinhead and the daughter of The Ring. for all levels of MMR.
In both graphs, the percentage shown is the total average number of Survivors killed in each four-Survivor event. For all RORs, mortality sites are highest at 63% and lowest at 52%. Meanwhile, the top 5% see Wesker from Resident Evil as having the highest kill rate at 65% and the lowest Trapper at 56%.
These statistics were taken as of September 2022 and the histograms have been rounded slightly on the behavioral side for easier reading. More detailed stats can be found in a forum post detailing the number of assassin kills in Dead by Daylight.
Behavior adds that it “must be kept in mind that when it comes to balancing assassin abilities and character perks, there are many factors involved, not just data” and that it “constantly monitors the overall balance of our game and takes into account Count your comments.” when evaluating the need for design changes.
It’s also worth noting that these stats don’t tell you exactly which assassins have the best kill rates in Dead by Daylight. However, seeing the same multiple popups among all MMRs and the top 5% may indicate which assassins are the most effective. But even so, not all skill levels appear individually in these stats, so it’s probably not wise to draw strong conclusions from the data.
