The Sims 4 kids are boring and lack the EA Maxis personality builder that went straight to the Sims 2 predecessor, fans say. The Sims 4 will be free on October 18, with a live stream hosted by comedian Phoebe Robinson highlighting new announcements for the simulation game and other updates to the series, including a few “surprises.” Right now, though, fans are saying that taking care of the younger members of The Sims feels pretty impersonal in the current installment.
“Does anyone hate toddlers and babies in The Sims? This is a question posed by a simmer on Sims Reddit to which players respond with their thoughts. Due-Radish-3022’s poster reads, “I feel like they have no personality, so I age them until they’re kids because they’re more fun to play with.” While some posters express love for young children, almost everyone seems to agree that babies are trash. I’m sorry girls.
Some point to the implementation of babies in The Sims 3, where Sims could multitask while carrying a baby, but The Sims 2 is the real winner for youngsters in the classic 2004 computer game. back and those were really the good old days.
Babies can play with the mobiles hanging from the crib and parents can change a dirty diaper, carry them, hug them and even wash them properly. One reviewer noted that in The Sims 4, “babies are objects that cry. In fact, they are not out of the cradle and their entire role is impersonal. By comparison, they note that being able to bathe your kids in a sink in The Sims 2 “brought me closer to my Sims.”
Glimmersimmer’s TikTok commenters say “The Sims 4 kids just take up space” and “all they do is scream so I’m aging them right now.” Many say they do the same, agreeing that the children in The Sims 4 seem quite unnecessary and “they could have a baby instead.”

Some fans do not know that the Sims 4 Parenthood game pack adds “around 15% of realism”, but more importantly, that “you will now have to pay for supplements just for your life with precision in a life stage in a simulation game Others say that “parenting is also very boring for little kids” as they constantly throw paint/flour on the floor or have tantrums. It may be more realistic, but it’s not ideal either.
Hopefully, we’ll see new tech for kids in the next Behind the Sims live stream. Meanwhile, EA expects Sims 4 player numbers to see a similar surge once the game goes free-to-play, taking Overwatch 2 to 25 million players in just ten days. In the meantime, fans are waiting for more news on what The Sims 5 could look like, but in the meantime why not check out the best Sims 4 custom content creators and the best Sims 4 mods to spice up your game. ?
