Age of Empires turns 25 on October 25, and the Age of Empires IV Anniversary Update will be released on that date to celebrate. The patch includes two new playable civilizations, along with new challenges and mastery achievements, as well as eight new map types and biomes to play in real time.
The October 25 update will also usher in the third season of Age of Empires IV, which will introduce ranked team play on the competitive side.
The Ottomans have already appeared in Age of Empires, first as Turks in Age of Empires II and then as Ottomans in Age of Empires III. They specialize in gunpowder and artillery and can field larger armies than most other factions due to their military school system dedicated to unit production.
Meanwhile, the Malians are built around their gold-based economy, preferring hit-and-run and ambush tactics to costly large-scale warfare. They can mine gold deposits that provide stable income and have the unique ability to raise livestock for food.
The Age of Empires IV Anniversary Update also includes fleet balance improvements and a new waypoint system for unit teams.
