Dark Souls 3 servers are quietly back online

The Dark Souls 3 servers are back online, but there has been no official word from the developer about it. FromSoftware announced earlier this week that there was a persistent “issue” trying to connect to RPG servers through Steam, but did not provide further details or an estimated timeline for fixing it. Today, that solution seems to have arrived.

Naturally, this will come as a relief to Dark Souls players who are used to what they assumed was another long period of server downtime. A code exploit discovered during the Elden Ring beta brought the PC servers down for the entire Dark Souls series, and the Dark Souls III servers weren’t turned back on until August.

We ran some quick tests and you should now be able to connect to the Dark Souls III servers on Steam, although this may be temporary. Without a word from the company, there is no way of knowing if the issues have been resolved or if it is just a temporary condition.

No official announcement has been made by FromSoftware regarding the revival of Steam login for Dark Souls III, which is in line with the developer’s minimalistic approach to communication.

Still, there’s no point complaining about restoring multiplayer and online functionality to one of the best RPGs ever made.
