A Minecraft player has uploaded a video to the Minecraft subreddit where he immediately gains experience points for the year, showing how much XP he has accumulated and what level he has reached in doing so. The feat was accomplished by accumulating cacti, an oven, and great patience. Mojang’s open-world sandbox game is full of things that give players a chance to explore their creativity (and a bit of their insanity), whether it’s creating things like Minecraft houses, mods, textures, or just exploring their own. At the same time, as in most games, players will receive experience points that can be accumulated and used to enchant and improve items. And there are many ways to earn those points. Almost all players farm XP in Minecraft whether they like it or not. It can be earned by mining certain ores, killing enemies, raising animals, defeating bosses, or even relaxing by fishing and in many other ways.
During the course of a medium game, gaining a lot of XP can be a long process, and death resets players to zero. However, one fan has shown that it is possible to rack up a ton of experience points in one go, though even that requires a lot of patience.
One year of XP saved
According to PCGamersN, Reddit user JustinTimeCuber has shared a clip of Minecraft playing normally. He can first be seen approaching a row of ovens, one of which has a sign saying “DO NOT MOVE until September 21, 2022”. He then drops his items on the ground and stays in the lava until he dies. After respawning, they approach one of the furnaces and activate the switch. Once you do this, your XP bar will skyrocket, reaching level 226 in a matter of seconds. Apparently, this is equivalent to 196,000 green experience orbs collected in about eight seconds.
The user achieved this by smelting cacti in a furnace, the process creates a green dye in Minecraft and awards XP when harvested. However, JustinTimeKuber didn’t get the paint right away and instead spent a year continuously adding cacti to the oven. Once they activate the switch, a year of experience and a ton of green paint are unlocked.
Minecraft is truly a game with near-infinite replay. After more than a decade on, it doesn’t look like the community is tired of it as so many fans come forward to showcase their designs, ideas and discoveries. It takes a certain amount of dedication to spend a year accumulating XP, and it will be interesting to see what other players do next.
