Blizzard servers down: DDoS affects login to WoW, Call of Duty, etc.

According to the publisher of Call of Duty, Blizzard’s servers are under DDoS attack, resulting in failed logins and long lines for players on the company’s Battle.net service. Blizzard says it’s actively monitoring the ongoing “distributed denial of service” attack that prevents users from logging in or putting them in long queues for Activision Blizzard games, including World of Warcraft, Call of Duty and CoD Warzone. . , Hearthstone, Overwatch and Diablo.

On September 14 at 12:00 AM PT / 3:00 AM ET / 8:00 AM PST, the Down Detector bug reporting website saw an increase in reports from Blizzard’s Battle.net service. Some users have reported that when they try to log in to Battle.net, they find themselves in a queue with an estimated wait time of over an hour. A DDoS attack or Distributed Denial of Service attack is a malicious interruption of an online service where bots intentionally flood the target server with traffic from various sources. This allows the server to handle legitimate connections and in some cases can cause a complete shutdown.
