Halo Infinite boss Bonnie Ross has announced her intention to step down from her leadership role at 343 Industries, the multiplayer game development studio she helped found and run for the past 15 years, to resolve a medical issue with her daughter. family. Ross made the announcement on September 12 on Twitter.

“While I was hoping to stay on Halo until we release the winter update, I am letting you know that I will be leaving 343 and taking care of a family medical issue.” Ross writes. “I am incredibly proud of the work everyone at 343 Industries has done on Halo Infinite, the Master Chief Collection, the Halo television series, and more.”

Ross has led the Microsoft Halo team since 2007, when Ross helped form 343 Industries to purchase the Halo franchise from Bungie, which originally created the Halo series and spun off from Microsoft.

By then, Ross had been at Microsoft for 13 years, contributing to series like Gears of War, Alan Wake and more, according to Windows Central.

“It has been an honor to serve with the team for the past 14 years and be a part of the universe I love,” he wrote. “Halo has a bright future. I can’t wait for everyone to experience what we have in store and cheer as fans at the Halo World Cup in October!”

Ross leaves 343 Industries at a very busy time for Halo. Halo Infinite experienced significant delays prior to release and was released without several promised features. The studio recently announced that it has dropped its local split-screen co-op plans. Season 3 has been pushed back to March 2023, according to the updated Halo Infinite roadmap.
