A sample successor to the Oculus Quest 2 has surfaced online and it looks like Project Cambria is coming as the Meta Quest Pro. Leaked clips give us a look at the company’s next best VR headset and some shiny new controllers, but not much has changed. in regards to its packaging.

In a rough unboxing, creator Ramiro Cardenas (aka Zectariuz Gaming) shares footage of the Oculus Quest 2 successor in the weeks leading up to its Meta Connect reveal. Ironically, Cárdenas apparently found the next virtual reality headset in a hotel room, suggesting that he was forgotten by one of the early adopters.

The Meta Quest Pro is undoubtedly part of the Oculus Quest 2 pedigree, but the newcomer boasts a black aesthetic and several AR bells and whistles. Cardenas’ video shows the headset’s front-facing cameras and additional lenses on each controller, which will improve device tracking and provide access to augmented reality.

Also, a short video shows the Meta Quest Pro packaging, but it looks like the Facebook company is sticking to its current branding. The VR headset’s retail presentation essentially looks like a redesigned version of the Quest 2, with a Quest Pro label in the left corner and a different product image.

In a statement provided by The Verge, Cardenas says the VR headset’s custodian returned the device, but it’s not entirely clear who owns it. He has a “Not For Resale-Engineering Sample” label on the front of his box, so it may belong to the developer or a Meta employee.

The leaked Meta Quest Pro images look legit, but we still recommend you take a look at them with a grain of salt. Engineering samples don’t necessarily indicate the final product, so the headphones may look a little different when they debut on Connect next month.
