Apparently the Nvidia RTX 4000 VRAM is currently in production, as Micron now lists the fastest GDDR6X modules in its online catalog. Last year, the GPU giant partnered with a manufacturer to bring 21Gbps chips to the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, and the two companies are expected to partner again with GPUs like the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080.
I observe Harukase5719, Nvidia RTX 4000 VRAM chips are now listed on Micron’s website (via Videocardz). The page update details the 16GB 24GB/s packages, suggesting that the modules are currently in production. The configuration can improve the capabilities of the next best graphics cards, such as the RTX 4090, while other next-generation GPUs, such as the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070, would use the 21 Gbps GDDR6X configuration.
It should be noted that while Micron is likely making GDDR6X modules with Nvidia in mind, their presence in the first wave of RTX 4000 graphics cards is not guaranteed. After all, 21Gb/s chips only came out with the RTX 3090 Ti this year, so we may have to wait a bit for the more powerful Lovelace SKUs to feature high-end video memory.
It’s widely believed that Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs are coming in a few months, but rumors can’t decide when it comes to the details. The RTX 4000 spec predictions have changed again as the RTX 4070 will apparently ship with more CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X VRAM. The RTX 4080 is also expected to ship with fewer cores than previously thought, so the specs of the lineup are likely to be undetermined yet.
We advise you to take any RTX 4000 rumors with a grain of salt, especially as the inside information is constantly changing. Recent rumors cast doubt on when the lineup will arrive, as it’s possible that only the RTX 4090 GPU will arrive in 2022. Again, it’s probably best to wait for some kind of official announcement, but if the findings are correct, AMD RDNA 3 cards may beat Nvidia.
