Some MultiVersus cosmetics are locked even if you paid for them

The MultiVersus cosmetic system has a few quirks that annoy some players. Even if you buy a skin or other cosmetics like an emote with real money or gold, there will likely be a point during the first month of your time with a fighting game where you won’t be able to use it. , at least for a while. MultiVersus has a list of free characters that changes every few weeks. For example, during launch week you can play as Superman without even unlocking him, and next week Shaggy or Tom and Jerry might show up.

If you’ve purchased cosmetics for a character and haven’t unlocked them yet, you’ll need to search for gold to purchase them, or if you decide to use your gold for other purposes, wait for the rotation to end. .

It is not a big thing. Just play a little every day to earn a decent amount of gold. Of course, there are a lot of requirements for your stash, from character upgrades to other skins, so it’s not always practical to spend gold on new characters.

This quirk is more annoying than anything else, but it does highlight the rather nasty connection between ownership and transactions in free-to-play games. Take Genshin Impact, for example, which also offers paid cosmetics, and at a hefty price, that are ultimately worthless unless you’re lucky enough to hire a certain character.

However, at least it only takes time to unlock MultiVersus characters, not real money. If you’re wondering which ones are worth your hard-earned gold, check out our MultiVersus tier list for some helpful tips.

We also have some recommendations on how to give and what benefits are worth it.

If you got used to Taz during the closed beta, you’ll also need to adjust your expectations a bit. The Whirling Threat received a pretty major nerf before its open beta.
