The GeForce RTX 3090 Ti is Nvidia’s best graphics card, and its high performance comes at an understandably high price, but it seems the company has quietly lowered the price of its flagship product in recent days. Although it is currently the only GPU to see its MSRP reduced, there are rumors that we may see similar reductions on other RTX 3000 cards in the near future.
Best Buy, an official Nvidia partner, is now offering the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti Founders Edition for $1,599.99, $400 (20%) off the MSRP of $1,999.99. While this may seem like nothing more than a special retail discount, famed YouTuber JayzTwoCents points out that Best Buy’s GeForce graphics card prices are controlled by Nvidia.
However, JayzTwoCents says that “I understand the price will be even lower,” so it might be worth the wait to upgrade your gaming PC to a top-tier GeForce GPU. The YouTuber also claims that we should expect to see similar discounts “across the board, with all AIBs on everything, probably RTX 3070 and up” very soon.
This price drop was likely introduced to combat the drop in demand for RTX 3000 GPUs following the recent drop in the value of the cryptocurrency. In fact, some reports suggest that Nvidia may need to delay the release of its RTX 4000 graphics cards due to the number of unsold graphics card retailers.
If you’ve put off upgrading your system, now is a good time to buy a new GeForce graphics card if you’re in the US and don’t like the performance outlook of the RTX 4000. However, RDNA 3 GPUs from AMD could spoil Nvidia’s market dominance plans when they also arrive later this year.
