The brutal near-future world of Night City is teeming with skilled hackers, and there’s a new Cyberpunk 2077 mod that lets you dive more fully into that side of the fantasy. The Break Takedown mod adds an option during stealth encounters that allows netrunners to load all of their insidious tricks directly into the skull of an unsuspecting enemy.
With the RPG Break Takedown mod installed, you will find a third option when fighting enemies. In addition to the standard “non-lethal attack” and “kill” options, players holding a cyberdeck will also have the option to “break the net.”
Selecting this option will open the familiar Violation Protocol minigame screen. However, since you’re physically interacting with the target rather than hacking remotely, you don’t need to solve the puzzle – all of your hacking protocol daemons will load automatically.
This is what it looks like in action. Modder Scissors unfortunately changed the game’s font to Comic Sans, but you get the idea:
The mod also allows you to break the web on unconscious (but still alive) bodies, and this option will appear when you get close to a downed opponent.
You can find the troubleshooting on Nexus Mods. To install, you need to extract the files and drag and drop the folders marked “bin” and “r6” into the Cyberpunk 2077 installation directory.
