Cyberpunk 2077 mods have already turned Night City into the Matrix and given us flying cars, but if you need an extra metal arm when it comes to combat, or maybe just a friendly robot friend, this latest creation might be for you.
Drone Companions by modder Scissors is adding a new operating system to Cyberpunk 2077 called TechDeck. It works similarly to CyberDeck, except its gear allows players to use various components to instantly create robotic companions. TechDecks come in rare, epic, and legendary qualities and can be found in various places, as noted on the Nexus Mods Drone Addons page – recipes for various androids and bots can be found at weapon vendors.
The mod adds a new tab to the creation screen by moving Cyberwave to the attachments category. You create drones using a range of new crafting components (which will appear in shops and NPCs once the mod is installed), and they come in various versions: flying drones, more humanoid androids, and powerful mechs. There’s also the option to upgrade your bots with TechHacks, which add abilities like an invisibility cloak or a speed boost. Scissors has provided a hands-on demo video, which you can watch below, along with a GZMods build guide.
Installation is relatively easy and everything is explained on the Nexus Mods page; Since this is such a great addition to Cyberpunk, we recommend reading through all of Scissors’ explanations, especially the finer points of creation.
Also note that in combat, your fellow droids are much more likely to attack enemies you’ve already targeted, and if you build one of the mechs, you can only have one at a time; after all, they are big enough.
Drone Companions is available for free on Nexus Mods.
