Bethesda and Arkane have provided a bit more insight into what we can expect from the Redfall map when the co-op vampire hunting game launches in 2023. Arkane studio head Harvey Smith said in a new blog post that the team wanted to start with something. familiar and recognizable and build from there, creating a greater sense of unease and unease when things we’re used to seeing are twisted and twisted by vampires from Redfall. .
“What if you could examine all of those details as you explore this new place, so similar to where you live but so different, and come to the conclusion that Redfall Island is a real place in Massachusetts?” Smith said. “We like to shake things up, so every game has the same core values, but also changes some big things.”
Arkane wants you to explore the Redfall map at your own pace, discovering its secrets and solving its problems when you feel ready. Creative director Ricardo Bare said the team chose an open world design to give players that flexibility.
“If a particular vampire battle seems too difficult for you, you can always grab a nest or do one of your fellow Redfall survivors a favor to level up or gain new gear and then go back to that ugly vampire battle.” Baer. said.
From what Arkane has previously teased about vampires in Redfall, it seems like that’s the case more often than not. Redfall Island is home to a host of horrors, from creepy vampires that hold back the sun to cowardly leeches that keep you away from your party.
Either way, the development team promised in Redfall all the meaningful encounters, immersive world design, and narrative density that give the Arkane games their uniqueness.
If you can’t wait until 2023 to take on the undead with your friends, there are plenty of other vampire games on PC to keep you busy until then.
