The June Lost Ark update will finally be out on June 30, and Amazon Game Studios has made some great announcements in the patch notes. In addition to the features we’ve already anticipated, including Vykas Raid, Kungelanium Guardian, and Thronespire Solo Activity, Amazon and Smilegate are adding various bot prevention measures to the MMO game to help address what the community sees as one of the bots. One of the biggest problems in the game.
When you enter a new area, Lost Ark randomly throws you a captcha verification test, and you must complete the test in minutes. The idea is to download “keyboard” bots, fake characters if you will, designed to mine gold, which is then sold outside of the Lost Ark economy.
But how effective it will be is another question. Some players feel that captcha is too weak an attempt to be meaningful and have already applied for two-factor authentication. It’s also unclear if captchas will show up in raids, which also sometimes spawn bots.
What seems to have more effect is the new ceiling imposed on the transfer of purchases.
“Les nouveaux achats en magasin auront désormais une période d’attente de 3 jours avant de pouvoir être échanges ou transfers depuis le compte de l’acheteur par courrier, échange, cadeau ou vente aux enchères”, indicate Amazon in the notes of mise à day.
This doesn’t solve the problem with bots, but it does increase the time it takes to receive tangible rewards from the scam.
Even better, the June update will add Heartbeat Island, a new event location that can be accessed by speaking to Jollous in any major city. On Heartbeat Island, you earn Festival Coins by participating in special events, like relaxing and competing in dance contests. I wish real life was this nice.
Once you’ve fully rested, you can check out the Lost Ark PvP stage to catch some action or collect Mokoko Seeds to redeem for sweet rewards.
