In V Rising, Nicholaus the Fallen is one of the many bloody bosses you’ll fight and slay on your quest to take down every boss in the game and reach your full vampire potential. Nikolaus poses a potentially problematic challenge for mid-season players. Here’s your guide on how to find it when you’re ready to let go, and some tips on how to do it.

Fallen Nicholaus is one of 15 different blood bosses you can see in V Rising’s Farbane Woods. As this is the first place you can actually access the game, Nicholaus the Fallen level 37 means he will be one of the two or three most difficult bosses to hit on this side.

It can be seen in a forgotten graveyard southwest of Farban Forest. There’s a bandit camp here that you need to clear out, except that’s where you’ll meet the Bandit King of Queens, the game’s final boss.

Considering Nikolaus’ high level, his match at level 37 should be seen as minimal preparation for his departure. It also performs various attacks that you should be prepared for. Its main attack will be a magic bolt, but a group of skeletons can also summon a group of skeletons to attack you and can teleport and then spawn near you, damaging where it teleports.

There are a few counters worth making sure you have access to in this fight. More pushes gained from defeating Errol Stone Breaker will help you clear the skeletons Nicholas will send you. Additionally, ensuring you have access to the Chaos Volley attack received after Lydia defeats Chaos Sagittarius will allow you to take a large chunk of Nicholas’ health. Using a powerful crossbow as your main weapon will allow you to stay ahead of this fight and shoot Nicholas, in addition to completing the other two attacks.
