Warzone’s new season 4 map looks pretty familiar

Fortune’s Keep, the new Call of Duty Warzone map releasing on June 22 alongside Season 4, may seem like a place you’ve seen before. It’s not a Call of Duty spin on Hitman levels, however, and while it shares some elements with Rebirth, High Moon says he went the extra mile to create something completely unique. High Moon wanted to create something new for Warzone Season 4 Resurgence, with the same scale as Rebirth Island and a classic, timeless feel, so they looked to the Mediterranean for inspiration and settled on a “smugglers’ paradise” theme. Pattern.

“Fortune’s Keep is a completely original map inspired by real-world Mediterranean locations,” says High Moon Creative Director Matt Kristek in a new blog post outlining what to expect from the map. “We wanted this map to be timeless and feel like it could be a real place that you can visit. There’s also a big contrast in the narrative: an area once used to fight pirates has now been taken over by a group of mercenaries and smugglers.

Fortune’s Keep, with its sprawling city, vineyard, and towering fortress, supports a 40-player lobby and is roughly the same size as Spawn Island, but it’s not just enemy Agents you have to watch out for. Outcast mercenaries will appear from time to time and try to escape with some extra gold, taking out anyone who gets in their way.

It also includes two additional features: the Black Market Run bonus and the Cash Out event. The Black Market Contract spawns once half a match is completed and will randomly drop a Black Market Buy Station where you can exchange in-game currency for useful items and weapons. They range from cheap $500 grenades to five figure pistols that can help you win.

During the Cash Out event, a flashing gold circle will appear on the map, indicating where the gold will drop. Head there and defeat multiple waves of brutal mercenaries for some extra cash, perfect for spending on the black market.

If you want to get a head start on Season 4, check out some of the best Season 3 weapons, including the best assault rifles, the smartest submachine guns, and the best weapons overall. Barring any unexpected surprises in the Season 4 patch notes, they should still be useful after June 22.
