AMD may be preparing a Steam Deck 2 Ryzen APU as a “Van Gogh successor” is on the way. The new chip reportedly has Zen 4 and RDNA 3 architectures and is expected to be an “ultra-low power” version of the next-generation Phoenix Point processor.

Valve’s laptop isn’t the only device with an AMD APU at its core, as gaming laptops like the Ayaneo also use a combination of CPU and GPU. Naturally, that means the new chip could arrive before Steam Deck 2, especially since the hardware suite doesn’t have an official ETA.
Valve CEO Gabe Newell says Steam Deck 2 is coming soon and should be premium. Whether that means a Little Phoenix APU-equipped model will hit the charts remains to be seen, but its inclusion could increase the PDA’s features and price.
