Unpacking, the puzzling puzzle game, is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on May 10.
Unboxing is a game of removing human objects from a box for several years while moving to a new area. Each unboxed item should be placed in an area where the player learns more about the hero’s life. The game focuses on the small details of how certain elements convey the main character’s personal value.
Artist and programmer Tim Dawson explained on a PlayStation blog how the game’s elements have a very personal meaning for the developers. “Part of creating this game involved finding our own experience and ways to add as little detail as possible.”
An example mentioned by the developer is climbing shoes and a chalk bag. “Recently a friend introduced me to bouldering and I realized that rock climbing was so fun and exciting that I got injured,” she said. “However, while working for the Unpacking hero, I thought he had a great hobby and it was a distinctive item – climbing shoes and a chalk bag.
The layout begins in 1997, which means players will not only experience the hero’s journey through the years, but relive many of the technological changes that they themselves may have experienced.
Packaging It was originally released for PC, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One on November 2, 2021. Tomorrow, May 10, the game is coming to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
