The Call of Duty Warzone developers have released a new feature as part of Ricochet’s anti-fraud system: a new “disarm” feature designed to make life easier for scammers.
Ricochet’s latest feature will automatically nix players suspected of cheating, and the developers hope this will further reduce player counts in Caldera, Rebirth, Fortune’s Keep, and multiplayer.
“We don’t expect many clips to find a way around the internet, but we’ve seen it in action, and the scammer’s reaction is still priceless,” the developers said in a blog post announcing functionality. They also posted a video showing what disarmament looks like.

In the video, the thief’s arms and hands completely disappear, rendering them unable to fire, change weapons, or even engage in combat. This removes any lethality that could mislead players, allowing them to deal appropriately with fair game operators.
“The mitigations are intended to keep cheaters in-game to analyze their data and reduce their ability to influence the legitimate player experience. The above data shows that the mitigations are effective, we are seeing a reduction cheat reports.
With CoD Season 4: Warzone Vanguard arriving on June 22 and MW2 in the fall, we hope that Ricochet-like efforts will continue to limit the number of scams we see in Call of Duty.
