Valve is currently preparing a major update for the Steam Deck handheld device, which should add one of the expected features. An option is currently being beta tested that will allow players to turn off the display, put the device to sleep and continue downloading at the same time individual titles and partial updates.

However, this practical function has not been available until now and players have been asking for it to be added for a long time. When the display turns off and goes to sleep, the device should ask users whether they want to continue downloading or pause it temporarily.

However, it is stated that the function will not be available if it has Device battery capacity is less than 20%. We do not yet know the exact release date of the new update that would fully implement this option.
