Xbox in the program Xbox: Play Anywhere allows players to purchase one copy of the game, which they can then use throughout the entire ecosystem, i.e. on PC, console or handheld device. The Japanese company has not stopped releasing its games for PC, and if rumors of an upcoming portable device that will accompany it are true. PlayStation 6then such a function would definitely be useful.
All you have to do is buy the game from the PS Store, and then use it not only on PlayStation, but also on your PC or portable device. Sony currently releases its games through Steambut if there was a feature like Cross-Buy, it would likely mean some own storesimilar to what Epic or Ubisoft have, for example. Sony could use this feature to encourage other players in its ecosystem to spend money exclusively in its store.
In the past, Sony has offered a similar feature on PS3 and PS Vita, where some games purchased from the PS Store included access to the PS Vita version of the game. Would you welcome such a feature? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
